A Month Shall Devour Them

In the prophetic book of Hosea, we read that God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge of Him and His Laws. He bemoans the fact that His people consulted their gods and commit spiritual adultery; while rejecting Him, the One True God. These people, who claim to be His, like those in this Christian America today, were so askew in their beliefs that their collective daily life style, their religious practices, their behavior and “ego” would not allow them to return to God. Just as today, as good (in their own eyes) religious people, who go off to church seeking to worship God, America’s faith-seekers, just like those in Hosea’s day look for and worship God, under their own terms. Nevertheless, they will not find Him. And because of their treachery, God had promised He will take these people away from their comforts, He will destroy their nation and “now shall a month devour them with their portions” (Hosea 5:7).

What truth is revealed here? A month shall devour them! Destruction in a month’s time! What can be understood by this phrase?

One could dismiss these utterances as mere fantasy, as the words of some, drugged up, lunatic. Certainly on the surface, destruction in a month’s time sounds unreasonable, illogical, perhaps nothing more than a metaphor. Perhaps these were only words used to scare the Children of Israel back into line. However, for any sense of reality to be understood by this – “well certainly not” would be the response of a more educated, modern-minded person.

A month shall devour the children of Israel. Just what is meant by this phrase?

History records for us that the Children of Ancient Israel did not get the message. They did not heed the warning, then. They eventually went into captivity as God sent them away into captivity and eventually into obscuration being sifted through the nations. Not only the prophecies of Hosea, but all the minor prophets along with Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah and Daniel all predict end-time events which will occur to a Great and prosperous nation, a nation in which dwells people who claim to be good servants of God.

The work of the Watchman preaches that the United States and Britain are the descendants of Israel and it is to these nations that the end-time messages of the prophets of God are directed. It is to the United States of America and Britain to which the warning of “a month shall devour them” is directed.

Again, the question is asked, “Just what is meant by this phrase - a month shall devour them?” Is this prophecy something we can logically understand?

It is just a matter of time, in the very near future catastrophe will soon befall the United States by radical Islamist terrorist. Once again, Al Qaeda is being heard. Now to add to the mix, Iran is threatening. Already the groundwork has been laid and unless war breaks out in Iran in order to stop these radical people, it is only a matter of short time before nuclear weapons will be exported from and eventually used on American soil. Is Iran an immediate threat? Absolutely! Finally, the American media is finally catching on. Attacks from without are all but certain to commence.

Let us now look at the conditions within this country. Let us consider what is happening, on a daily basis, aside from the potential threats from without, to the United States. At any moment the collapse of a very tenuous, over-valued American economy could occur.

The challenges from an emerging Asian market along with the rebirth of the European community are beginning to be too much for an over-extended credit, consumer-oriented society debtor nation, such as is the United States of America.

The imminent breakdown of an abused and abusing American Healthcare system, coupled with a profit-seeking pharmaceutical industry, which is ever alienating the insurance industry, is leading to a collapse. Politicians see as the only hope for American, a socialistic-type, cradle to grave healthcare system.

Compiled on all this is the degradation of a corporate America fixated on unethical business practices and financial scandal. Never removed from the American scene is the continued breakdown of the family institution, not to mention the effects of what passes for entertainment in America with all its racy, immoral, debased, indecent, sexually perverted elements. All this common, every day, “winked at” accepted behavior is prevalent in America.

When you consider the costs of the social programs, prescription drug regiments, healthcare coverage, the penal institutes, law enforcement and more, which are required to keep afloat a nation inundated by drug abuse and crime, juvenile delinquency, an increasingly obese population, chronic illnesses, broken homes, pornography, crime, it is easy to see that America is teetering on the brink of financial collapse. More jobs are being out-sourced; real wages and income are diminishing, as the average family’s debt load and credit usage increases. More companies are shifting to offer less benefits for their workers, as even pension plans are being re-evaluated. The Baby-boomer generation will never find comfort in retirement, despite investment firms’ slick commercials.

In the year 2006, we are well aware of the protracted war in Iraq. Now 2007 and the situation is worse. Civil war rule among the different factions of Islam. Estimates have the cost now well over one trillion dollars and growing. How long can the American taxpayer foot the bill? Is it any wonder the Democrats want our troops out of Iraq.

The prophecies spoken by the end-time prophets millennia ago all emphasize events that could only be realized in the technologically advanced world you take for granted today, the world in which you live today, in the nation in which you live today.

The every day realities of life that challenge you and this great nation will worsen to a point where unless God intervenes there will be no man left alive. The reasons behind these events are explained by the work of the Watchman.  There is a reason behind all the evils within this nation, a nation that seeks to be entertained by God, but is not willing to obey God. And yes, a nation that is increasingly denying the existence of God.

When you consider the realities confronting this country and the world, of impending conventional and nuclear attack by lunatics within the Arabic world, not to mention chemical attack and the biological breaches that can and will be leveled against this country, it is easy to understand destruction in a month’s time. When you consider the civil and social disorder that can result from such chaos (just witness the civil upheaval and social disorder which resulted from Katrina), then you can understand destruction in a month’s time.

When you consider the nightmare of the disruption of raw materials, of gasoline supplies, of the staples of life, of the stoppage of the railways, truck lines and commerce in general, then you can understand destruction in a month’s time.

As reported by this end-time work of the Watchman, and as addressed by the International Community, an EMP attack could well send the most developed nation, this USA back technologically, some 100 years. So once again, given the world in which we live, given the dependency of electronic and computer regulated devices within this United States, it is easy to understand destruction in a month’s time. 

Understanding the technologies utilized within the medical/healthcare industry, the communication technology necessary for our law enforcement, and civil services, the telecommunications industry at large, it is easy to see that any disruption will cause chaos and national destruction in a month’s time

Likewise, consider America is a very restless, impatient and spoiled society. Americans are a “want it now,” self-serving and self-gratifying lot. Consider an average group of neighborhood teens, boys and girls, or the average business professional, whose lives are dependant on technology, a couple days without a PDA or Laptop or Cell phone or X-Box or Game Boy or MP3 and you will see how fast civility and common decency will break down. Screams will be heard, “fix it now” and Mr. Politician, solve my problem. But when no help comes, see how fast outright violence develops. From that perspective you can understand, destruction in a month’s time.

God Almighty says He will take action against the nation that disobeys His Laws and refuses to worship Him and Him alone.  An honest eye reveals that the elements are already in place, which will avail destruction in short order. A month is all it will take to devour the nation under God’s wrath. Ironically, most of what will cause destruction is of man’s own doing.

Is it possible that the United States of America could fall, could come to nothing, could be devoured in an actual calendar month? When it comes to pass, the shock and awe will cause such grief, such terror.

When you consider what happened to just one city in the United States, New Orleans and the breakdown of social dignity and civility after a natural disaster, then you can begin to understand the enormity of destructive consequences which can arise across the  entire nation, the United States of America, in a month’s time. Magnify the pitiful, ugly consequences of that one city across the United State, and I think the picture is clear: Destruction in a month’s time. Yes, a month shall devour this nation.

The writing is on the wall and the month is approaching for this nation.

Both the 21^st Century work of the Watchman and the Gospel message of the Kingdom of God as first preached by the God of Israel, Jesus Christ, emphasize a central theme, Repentance! God requires repentance from sin and repentance from worshipping false, foreign and pseudo-gods, whether the gods of religion or gods of ones own devices. God requires repentance from a life of disobedience to His Laws; repentance from a life laden with sin, the sins, which are so prevalent in America. Unless America repents, it will come to its complete destruction in a months’ time. In reality, a month is all it will take to devour the United States.
