Ministers - Part 3 of 3
Servants of the Lord:
2 Timothy 2:24 And the
servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all
men, apt to teach, patient,
Servants of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:1 Paul and
Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints
in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and
deacons:
Jude 1 Jude, the servant
of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are
sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ,
and called:
Servants of the Church:
2 Corinthians 4:5 For we
preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and
ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
Shepherds:
Jeremiah 23:4 And I will
set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they
shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be
lacking, saith the LORD.
Soldiers of Christ:
Philippians 2:25 Yet I
supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my
brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but
your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
2 Timothy 2:3-4 Thou
therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the
affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen
him to be a soldier.
Stewards of God:
Titus 1:7 For a bishop
must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled,
not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to
filthy lucre;
Stewards of the grace of God:
1 Peter 4:10 As every
man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to
another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Stewards of the mysteries of God
1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a
man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and
stewards of the mysteries of God.
Watchmen:
Isaiah 62:6 I have set
watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold
their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD,
keep not silence,
Ezekiel 33:7 So thou, O
son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of
Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and
warn them from me.
Witnesses:
Acts 1:8 But ye shall
receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.
Acts 5:32 And we are his
witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost,
whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Acts 26:16 But rise, and
stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this
purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these
things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the
which I will appear unto thee;
Workers together with God:
2 Corinthians 6:1 We
then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye
receive not the grace of God in vain.
Likened to sowers:
Psalms 126:6 He that
goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall
doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves
with him.
Matthew 13:3-8
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying,
Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and
the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much
earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no
deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because
they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and
choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit,
some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Read Mark 4:3-20 Parable
of the sower
Teachers of schools:
1 Samuel 19:20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and
when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and
Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God
was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
2 Kings 2:3 And the sons
of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha,
and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away
thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know
it; hold ye your peace.
Acts 13:1 Now there were
in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and
teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and
Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with
Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Exempt from taxes:
Ezra 7:24 Also we
certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites,
singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of
God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or
custom, upon them.
Non-Partisan in Politics:
2 Samuel 15:24-27
24 And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him,
bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down
the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people
had done passing out of the city.
25 And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God
into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the
LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his
habitation:
26 But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold,
here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.
27 The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art not thou a
seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with
you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
