Two Basic Rules of Thumb

I learned these two rules of thumb [rules to live by] many years ago from a wise and faithful minister of God's Work.  If we make these rules a part of our lives, we will make the right decisions more often, take the appropriate action in almost every case and preclude our knee-jerk emotions from ruling our lives.  These two rules will avoid and preclude CONFLICT in the Church of God.  If the whole congregation is living by these rules, there will be peace, harmony and unity in your church.

Here they are:

Before uttering any word or taking any action in the Church of God and among your brethren ASK YOURSELF...

1) What would Christ say or do here?
2) What does the Word of God say?

If one is IMMERSING themselves into the Word of God, they will know BOTH.  The Word of God is the mind of God.  Christ lives by every word of God.  Therefore the two rules are bound together and equal the same thing.

Wise virgins (Matthew 25) live by these rules.  It is how they always have their lamps full of oil.  These are KINGDOM rules.  If followed, they will guarantee you the Kingdom of God.  They will preclude you from ever becoming a foolish virgin (a blockhead).
